I have recently rebooted my pc so that i could partition it to optimise its performance. And now every time i try to burn a dvd data disc using nero 6.6.0.13, i get the error message "Burn process Failed at 2.4x". I think the reason for this happing is it says in the events tabel "sony dvd rwdw-u10a illegal disc. This did not happen before i rebooted, and i am usings the exact same dvd +RW 4x dics. My dvd writer is a "sony dvd rw dw-u10a". i have tryied getting the newest firmeware but nothing seems to work, can anyone help me please.

here is the file log to help you.

[bold]Hi, edit your post and remove the 3 first lines QUICK[/bold], well the 3rd one anyway, your serial number's probably been pinched by now. I'm going thru the logfile in the meantime.

i havn't looked at the firmware as your drive has detected the media (Ricoh Japan, sounds good to me)

    - not good, you're running out of memory and will be using virtual memory, ie a portion of hard disc. This means your hard disc will start 'swapping' ie thrashing to provide 'virtual' memory and also it will interfere with the burning as the data is no doubt on the hard disc also

    - LMAO that's a good one, not come across that one before!

    - i haven't done a multisession disc in years so can't remember much about multisession, but are you sure yu're s'posed to be doing multisession (just an observation)

    - your burner's happily detected your disc.

    - hmmm....disc was supposedly formatted ok before use here so it shouldn't be formatting-related

i'd try closing down more background tasks/applications as you got virtually no memory left

    i missed something -

    - reinstall Nero, this time without 'InCD' - it's packet writing software and it interferes with standard Nero

see here Scubapete's comments for removing Nero properly. It's a stubborn bugger so you have to convince it to uninstall. - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/133444

(Don't forget to keep a note of your serial number)

You might want to try a registry cleaner such as "windows registry repair pro" I've had lots of problems with software that were nothing more than registry messes. Even windows XP is still susceptible to registry problems.

If you didn't defragment your hard disk after you repartitioned this is another idea, again, I've had more than a few software problems that were caused by heavily fragmented directories and/or swap files (98/ME) or paging files if you're using 2000 or XP. Most people never think about defragging their hard disk, you might also want to go to the DOS level and run the disk utilities that came with your hard drive to be sure there are no bad sectors or other types of errors on the drive anyplace--if there are the software can correct those problems if they're not too serious or block off the bad sectors if they are not correctible (and if you've got that kind of problem and the drive is still in warranty you can send for a replacement).
