That's quite an old processor, I'm not sure you would get away with running Nero 10 very smoothly even if you do resolve your .net framework issue (try installing .net framework separately from Microsoft's website).

What is it you are hoping to achieve with Nero? We may be able to suggest a better solution for your setup.

Hi - Thanks for the prompt reply.

Re-installing Net Framework from Microsoft - when I looked briefly - I could only see downloads for Windows XP SP1 not SP3 (which is what I have) - would that make a difference ?

    Hoping to achieve ?
Transferring AVI files to DVD. I have been using ULead VideoStudio6 which I've had for ages but I seem to have lost the transitions - currently uninstalling and re-installing to see if I get them back.

    Cheers

Yes it would make a difference. I think SP3 needs net framework 3.5 anyway, but I'm not sure.

Do you want to just burn the .avi files on to DVD and then watch the .avi files off the disc as data, or are you looking to convert them to a DVD file format before burning to disc?

    Thanks
Convert to a DVD file format - e.g the ones done so far using Ulead include a mixture of AVI files, jpegs, bmps with music overlaid and captions/titles added.
I like the facility of being able to create a meun of item to view on Ulead - but the themes/backgrounds are a bit naff.

Okay, well a suite such as this is probably best then. Have you had any luck installing net framework?

    No
I see in Add/Rmove programs I have the following
    Net Framework 1.1
    Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix
Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Net Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
    Net Framework 3.5 SP1

Didn't like to do anything because I had no idea what it would do - but open to suggestions :)
    Thanks
    Les

You need 2.0 and 3.0 for 3.5 to work but you can remove 1.1/Hotfix as they are redundant - if some software you own requires it, it will probably just reinstall it (but I think most should just use 2.0 or higher).

Does the install give you a windows error code or anything like that?

    Hi
Presume you're referring to the 3.5 - have no idea how to run this - whilst I can see it in Add/Remove programs - I can't find it in the Program Files directory.
I have found a Microsoft/Netf directory - but with a number of exe files within it - wouldn't have a clue which one to run

I mean when you install Nero trial and it gives you the Net Framework error, is there any other information available to you?

I had a similar problem using XP, It took a few reboots to do it but I was able to remove .Net Framework 3.5 and .Net 3.0 After that was done it reinstalled .Net 3.5 first before installing the 3.0 patch that was giving fits before. Then it made me upgrade to XP Sp3 (I thought I already had been.
