i've tried using alcohol 120, daemon tools, and other programs, but i can't seem to successfully make an iso file, and use it to run a program. i read some forums saying to use a program to find out what protections are on the disc, but i tried 3 of them and nothing was found out. PLEASE HELP!!! thanks

If you want to create an .iso file of a disc and it has no protection, try using apps like MagicIso or my fav UltraIso.

Alcohol 120 can make an .mdf/.mds image file (of a protected disc as well), which can be converted by UltraIso to the .iso format.

At the point of creating an image file, UltraISO would also allow you to add your own files, folders to the image.

Both Alcohol and Daemon tools have virtual drives in which the image can be mounted (images>>>.iso/.bin/.mdf/.img/.nrg/.bwt...).

    thanks for clearing that up.

but, i've tried to figure out what protection is on this disc, and none of the programs online can detect what it is (so i don't know how to get around it or what programs can get around it, because i don't know what type it is)

if all else fails, i guess i'll just have to put the disc in every time i want to run it.

You didn't mention what particular disc you are trying to back-up, that would help.
