Problems with a nokia 6500 slide unlocking

    I bought a nokia 6500 slide (off a well known auction site) and instead of unlocking it I bought one of those unlock sims... the thing is that it opens the phone but I am denied by my operator to access the network... thought it could be the unlocking sim but no it works perfect on another cell phone... any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks.. ;)
