I have DVDfab Platinum and am trying to back up I am legend. I've been using Memorex and Imation DVD+R's but recently bought a pack of Sony DVD+R (DPR47LS4). DVDfab will read the movie but fails with a code of 116 when trying to burn. Are these discs bad or did I buy some wrong dvds. I've never had problems with the program, first time this has happened. Can anyone help?
Sony DVD+R's are ok discs. Try this 1) use dvdfab plat to decrypt movie and output formatted ( to a 4.7 Gb disc) file to hdd 2) use imgburn in build mode to make an iso file of disc 3) burn iso file with imgburn in write mode. Imgburn best burning engine out there IMHO. Imgburn free from www.imgburn.com
Switched from imation/Memorex to sony? Your burner probably had a coranary with the better sony media, LOL! Very good stuff. But certain drives are hit or miss with sony media. Check to see if their's a newer firmware update for your burner. What is the brand name, model#,and current firmware version of your burner? Do you have the MID codes for the Memorex,Imation, and Sony media? Sony Plus format will code either: SonyD12,Yuden000-T02,Yuden000-T03, or SonyD21.
Thanks guys, updating my firmware did the trick!! I'm also going to look at that imageburn as well. You were a great help.
A lot of people had to update their firmware to handle the SonyD21 media.Unfortunantly, majority of older drives lack the newer fw updates. Imgburn is a very good program, especially on the dual/double layer backups or re-ripping some of your already properly sized backups for extra copies. Also less cpu intensive.
