I've been trying to figure out how to succesfully rip/burn DVDs for a couple of weeks and so far have had limited success. I'm running OSX on a powerbook G4. I've been using Mac The Ripper to decrypt the DVDs, DVD remaster to compress them, and Roxio Platinum Toast to burn the files. I'm burning them with DVD player formated names, as DVD-Rom disks, with the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on the DVD, and they burn ok, but then will not play in my laptop drive (it just spits them back out) or my stand alone DVD player. Strangly though, they will play perfectley in my mom's ibook and in my external Lacie DVD drive. I'm using TDK 8x DVD-Rs. I've already returned one bad batch of TDK DVD-Rs to the store and I figure that the probability of getting two bad batches in a row is astronomical. Any help would be great!
If the DVDs play in some players means that there is nothing wrong with them. Your problem is incompatibility between the media and the players where it does not work. Try differents brands till you find one that works in all of your players. I use 4x Ritek (RIDATA or TRAXDATA) and so far I am yet to find a player that will not accept them.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it, can you recomend a good online place to buy them? Are other DVD-Rs that are marketed as made by Ritek the same as "Ritek DVD-Rs? I wouldn't think so, but I was just wondering.
Sorry, I just realized that you reccomended "RIDATA or TRAXDATA" which answers my second question. Thanks again.
