my brother separated my C and D drives. i didn't have a problem until know when i realized no matter if i told a program to go under the C drive it would still go under the D drive. or if i could get a program on my C drive all of its components would still go under the D drive. my D drive has only 20 GB and the C drive has about 60 GB. he did this so that only the windows and dell stuff could stay on the D-drive so if i had to format then i wouldn't loose anything. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this problem. my computer is a Dell Latitude D820 running on XP and i don't mind formatting but i no longer have the CD's to install windows or latitude, or at least not for two-three weeks.
You need to edit the registry start/run regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProgramfilesDir and edit the value data http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-change-the-default-installation-folder-in-windows.html
