    Hello!
I am using Gordian Knot 0.28 and DivX5.05. After encoding a movie the first part of the avi file has a very good quality but the quality of the second part is very bad looking. Where is the problem. Is it an error of mine of Gordain software, or the divX-Codec?

    Thanks in advance

What settings are you using? Dont use 1 pass , use the two pass settings. With the new divx 5.0.5 codec its better to disable the the profiles and use the Orginal Pass settings. Multi nth pass does not work that well with 5.0.5. Also i find that disabling (depends on the movie) GMC improves quality...forget about Q pixels..just use B frames. apart from that always do a compress test with Gordian and make sure youve got the latest version i.e. at the mo' its Gordian Knot 0.28.2 beta 2. Normally when you get a great frist half and crap second half encoding its to do with a having done a one pass only or that youve not installed the codec properly..in which delete all Regkey settings for Divx codec( making a backup first!) and reinstall! good luck!
