    Hi

I recently had to back up my entire HD ( external G:\ 65 gig over 14 discs ) using Nero 6 Backitup.

After it burnt the 14th disc it said everything was done and dusted for e.g so I saved all the discs and had to format the HD.

Now when I go to Nero Restore it asks for the *.nbi file which according to the Nero web site's downloadable help files should have been put onto the opening disc.

The first disc consists of 7 DAT files which amount to about 4gb, a few MSG files, the NRestore application file and a CSG file, the rest of the discs are just the 7 large DAT files including the final disc.

So where exactly has Nero put this file? I have searched my other HD ( C:\) to no avail?

Appreciate any help guys and gals.

    Rob

I may be wrong but I think it resides on the last disk.

Have checked the final disc and it just contains 7 DAT files

I have also emailed Nero and await any reply, I have checked on there site and it says something about having to Restore a HD back up by putting disc 1 into your DVD drive, going into the Bios and making sure the machine reads that drive 1st, then Restoring from there?? by booting into MS - Dos mode, which according to Win XP - XP can't do.

Why doesn't it mention on Nero how complicated it appears to be to Restore what is backed up using there own software.

I would have thought the process was simalier to zipping up files and then unzipping?

Im currently experiencing the same thing. You must have did a backup of the entire partition. The way this is supposed to work is that you boot your system from the first CD and start the restore. When I do this I boot the machine nrestore starts and it tells me all my drives contain invalid media. After a lot of head scratching I found the following. Since you boot into dos the file names are recognized are 8 char file name + 3 for the extention. I had the misfortune of haveing a big enough backup that I end up with the following type of file name. BK_01_101.DAT notice the file name is nine characters long. I called the tech support line. After convincing them that they didnt need to have me look for an NBI file because there wouldnt be one I was told the subject matter expert was out for the day. I have also emailed their support have provide a lot of information and even pointed out the trouble directly. Have not heard back from them yet. I have wandered around the internet and have seen a couple of posts on this but now anwser yet. If I ever get one I will be sure to post it here
