I knew things were to good to be true. I bought nero6 ultra and downloaded the trial version of anydvd. Things going fine but after coping three dvd's with great success on the fourth one I can't access the advanced analysis part of recode 2 to put a check in it.Any ideas why? Thanks

There is possibly a limit to the trial version for using recode. You will have to get the full version I think.

I did purchase Nero 6 Ultra Edition and I had to go to wesite to download the updates which included recode 2 so I don't think its any trial version unless I downloaded something wrong. Now my anydvd which rips is still a trail version but I still have time left before I purchase it.

You could try uninstalling and re-installing.

Have you entered the serial number to fully activate Ultimate Edition?

Open Startsmart, now click on NERO, its at the top left, now click on serial numbers to verify.

    I checked and it reads
    nero6 ultra edition 6.3.1.15
    nero vision express 2 2.1.2.12
I then hit the serial number and it has my number listed but just has it listed for nero 6 ultra edition but I went to web site like someone suggested and tried to enter and it said already on file.

By chance did you have an older or a trial version of Nero installed before you bought this new one?

If so , go to Nero and look for the Nero Tools , you will find an utility that will wash out any trace of the Nero software you previously had - run it - and after a re-boot , re-install your new Nero. That may be a cure for your problem.

Nero General Clean tool is here:-->http://www.nero.com/us/631940828445001.html

No this was the only version I had. I just purchased about a week ago.
Another strange thing when I went to import button it never showed up a title of the DVD that I was going to burn. It burned but I could just never get the advanced analysis to highlight so I could put a check in it. So I am not sure what method it used. I will get another DVD title and try it again maybe that was just a bad one.

daletom, at least we got ya going somewhat. I want you to click on the ? mark at the bottom left corner for recode. From the drop down menu click on registration and enter your ultra 6 purchase #. Do this for nerovision express also. Make sure you are reading from your cd-rom drive before the 1st analysis, the name of the movie should be there. Also, are you burning on the fly or to the hard drive?(checking burn at once?) One other thing, was the movie compressed at all? If there is no compression, there's no need for advanced analysis. How did the burn turn out?

I assume on the fly I am using ANYDVD. I check after each burn to make sure that it does not leave anything in the folder.Everything that I have burned is listed in ANYDVD under CSSKeys???. I was using burn at once but someone said you got better quality if you used the advanced analysis because it was only taking me maybe 25 minutes to burn a movie. So that is why I started using advanced analysis. As far as was it compressed maybe that is why advanced analysis was not highlighted. The program just knows automatically what to do.Which is great because I sure as heck don't.The burn turned out fine to me.I just don't have another DVD on hand to try but will get one tomorrow.I have entered all the codes everytime I try to redo that it says it already has them. So I assume I am good to go on that part of it. I still have I think 14 days left before I actually purchase ANYDVD. But so far so good until this and like I said it could have just been the movie. I just want to make sure I have all the checks in the right boxes and etc.I am pretty good at following directions but the book that came with Nero did not talk about recode 2 at all so I have jsut picked up bits and pieces from this site and away I went. Thanks for all the help given so far.

did you read my little guide? You need to check burn at once and advanced analysis. You don't have to check one or the other. This is for on the fly, if you want to write to HD and then burn from there, just check advanced analysis, and choose a destination folder.

it's on page 3, 3/4 of the way down. If you follow it to the letter, you'll have no problems. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/89791

daletom, make sure you check dvd fit to target, dvd5(4.7) or it won't open up burn at once and advanced analysis.

Things have been going pretty well with the recode 2 and your directions. I still have a little trouble understanding step 7 andn 8 but am working on that. Sometimes I only have 2 categories instead of 3 or 4.It must just be the movies I have. Also today tried to burn another one and could not get the advanced analysis to light up again. Didn't you say when that happens it is not compressed in the first place? If that does happen again should I still check burn at once or not?
    Thanks Daletom

daletom, glad all is going well. If you want to burn one copy from disc to disc check burn at once, if you are going to make more than one copy or are writing to the HD do not check burn at once. If you can't get it to light up, the disc may be to big, try entering custom fit and set it at around 4300(my good buddy scuba pete likes 4280)and see if that won't work. good luck, and happy blazing!

I was copying a dvd today using your directions on I clicked on extra's and disabled them then I clicked next then a screen came up that said "to maintain ddv compatibility please select method of deletion
below that was custom picture then color then replace video with the following picture. Well I was stuck not knowing what to do so I just hit next checked advanced analysis and burn at once and off it goes. Well when I put dvd in computer to check it out it said video removed?? then I hit play and then it started. What in the heck did I do. I was trying to take everythign out but menu and main movie like you said leave these 2 alone. I did not click on any + marks I just disabled them all at once I think. You have been most helpful hope this is not asking to much trying to get me on the right road. Thanks again

daletom, all is normal. All recode is doing is replacing the deleted extras with a picture telling you that, that piece of video or extra if you will, has been removed. All that was removed is what you deleted.

This is a very good feature. In many apps when you delete something, then there is nothing there. So when you play that copy and you click on that link it has nowhere to go. In some players this will eject the movie, especially DVD changers or carousels, which have another option, to go to another disc.

By substituting a pic the dvd remains active in the player and all you have to do is go back to menu and select something else. The fact that recode does this and also retains menu function make it one of my favorite progs(it also has very good quality with low to medium compressions)

Don't forget, you can go into extras(by clicking on the + mark), do the exact same thing on each one(as you did on all the extras) and keep some if you wish. You don't have to delete them all. If you do this recode will ask you to substitute a pic for each one. Make sure when it asks you that you click OK for nero to substitute that pic.

You can also change compression on all or each with the slider, thus raising overall quality of the main movie, yet still keeping some extras. Just keep playing with it, you're going to realize how easy it is to do this.

    Congrats on your 1st time.

My 1st coaster. I was trying to copy and this message came up
"compilation cannot be writtern directly to DVD +R
therefore burn at once will be disabled". I said ok hoping that it would just burn. Well it got to 99% and then it was like the energizer bunny it ran and ran and ran.Any ideas on that message. I tried again trying to disable the extra's and other stuff except the two things you told me to leave alone and the same message came up so I decided I had better wait and ask. Also one more thing if you don't mind. I keep getting a message popping up saying that ANY DVD has a new version. Do I need to download that and if so anything other than download I need to change or do to it to work correctly. Thanks for all your help

daletom, install the new version of anydvd over the old.

I'm not sure why you got the message, without knowing what you did. There seems to be some problems with recode's latest update, there is a new update soon. I am having sizing problems with it myself. Do you have your log?

[bold]it was like the energizer bunny it ran and ran and ran.Any ideas on that message.[/bold]

    what do you mean?
