Not sure if this is supposed to be in this forum but is there anyone out there familiar with SmartRipper and what the proper settings and usage might be? I've tried backing up in both file mode and movie mode and for some reason, I can't burn them. Always seems to be some error with the burner when I try.

    Thanks in advance..
    Happy Holidays!

I actually prefer SmartRipper of DVDDecryptor.

The backup settings are fine. Make sure you've got the ASPI layer installed (if you're using XP).

I also backup in File mode since I've got the greatest versatility when using DVD Shrink.

The idea of SmartRipper is not to burn on your DVD-R. It's to backup onto your HD. After that, you need to either shrink it (if it's over 4.489 GB) or just burn it using a burning proggy (e.g. Nero).

thanx for the response. Let me get this straight. Use SmartRipper to d/L to the HD. Then sort the .ifo's, .bup's and .vob's. Then put all of those files in a VIDEO_TS folder and burn. if over the 4.4GB threshold, use DVDShrink. Is that about right?

How can I check to see if my ASPI layer is present? I am using WIN XP PRO.

Just downloaded the new ASPI layer files from the adaptec page. Evidently WinXP PRO does not ship with these files. Thanks again..
