So, I'm using AnyDVD and CloneDVD, which have ALWAYS worked. I even updated to their latest versions, but for the life of me cannot copy a Disney DVD. I read someplace to try DVD43, but it's not compatible with Visa x64. Any ideas, anyone?
IMHO, you should avoid DVD43 at all costs and save yourself lots of grief. What movie is it that is giving you the problems? Give this thread: LINK ,a quick read through to get an idea of how to get the best assistance possible
Thanks. I imagine myself very competent with this stuff, as I work in a production studio where we burn/copy/rip content for all sorts of clients all the time. It's an epic, 3 hour 48 minute documentary of the day they opened Disneyland. The DVD is titled "Walt Disney Treasures Disneyland USA", region 1, USA, original release date was December 4, 2001 I originally tried ripping it with DVD Decrypter and burning a Video DVD with Nero, but the burned discs wouldn't play and couldn't even be read. Having a look at the ripped files, they seemed a little strange, some would play okay, others would be blank except for audio, so I figured something was up with my rip. This time I tried AnyDVD and CloneDVD, and the ripped files appeared the same way. I went ahead and burned a disc anyway, but same problem.
DVD image structor has changed something to do with vob5 reading first & upsetting the ripping programs. the only program that I know of for sure that will work is DVDFAB5 5.112 or later
Check AnyDVD's status after it has finished scanning the disc.. If it mentions "Structural Protection", you'll want to use the built-in ripping feature to rip as "files" to you HDD.. From there you should be able to run thru a program like DVD Shrink with no problems and then use ImgBurn to burn to disc. If you're using DVDFab HdDecrypter, you may need to enable the path player when you're ripping.. And you'll want to follow up with FixVTS or VobBlanker after the rip is done (DVDFab doesn't rip as cleanly as AnyDVD).. Haven't tried a Disney disc in a while, but they were the ones that always gave me problems.. AnyDVD couldn't handle (of course its been updated multiple times since then), and failed on the first pass with DVDFab.. told me to enable the pathplayer.... then took several hours to actually rip (would hang several times at "problem spots", then finally break through and continue).. As for DVD Decrypter and ripping.. it hasn't been updated in years and it CAN'T handle all the newer encryptions and protections used today..
Okay, so I tried DVDFab 5 and still no luck... . . . AnyDVD's status after inserting the disk: Summary for drive F: (AnyDVD 6.5.2.8) TSSTCORP CDDVDW SH-S203B SB02 1213 Drive (Hardware) Region: 1 Media is a DVD. Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite) Size of first Layer: 1647200 sectors (3217 MBytes) Total size: 3164811 sectors (6181 MBytes) Video DVD (or CD) label: DisneylandUSA_D1 Media is CSS protected! Video Standard: NTSC Media is locked to region(s): 1 4! RCE protection not found. Structural copy protection not found. Autorun not found on Video DVD. Bad sector protection not found. Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1! It looks pretty clean. I think I'll try ripping with AnyDVD, then using Shrink and ImgBurn. Thanks for the help!
Is your disc original release? If so, it should not have mcuh of copy protection. (Unless it is recent re-release.) Is the original disc new? Is its playback ok?
Okay, I ripped "Video DVD to Harddisk" with AnyDVD, set DVD Shrink to use DVD 9 and changed option to "No Compression" and then I clicked "Backup!" which seemed to work fine. But then an error in ImgBurn... I think I may have done something wrong with DVD Shrink? When I start to burn the .iso in ImgBurn, I get this message: . . . @grampyga yes, original disc. it's new, not a scratch on it and it plays just fine!
If you are going to burn on DL without compression, why are you using Shrink? (FYI: By its default Shrink remove Layer Break. You can change it in its “Preferences>Output File”.) Try ImgBurn “Write files/folders to disc”.
Don't discount the possibility that your disc may simply be bad. I've had DOA retail discs several times through the years. There is no other reason for this disc not to rip in DVD Decrypter.
Other than the fact that DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated since March, 2005 and is no longer supported.. It CAN'T handle many of the newer encryptions and protections developed in the last 4 years. So if you're getting it to rip a disk successfully on its own, count yourself lucky so far.. Sooner or later, you're going to get stuck and you'll need to either turn to AnyDVD or DVDFab 5 to rip your disc. and yes, I do agree, there's always the possibility of a bad pressing and a brand new DVD being bad even though to the eye, it looks just fine. (and it may even play ok, but quality isn't good enough for the drive to read & rip).
That is correct Joleca, however as previously posted the original release date for this disk was Dec. 2001, so unless it is an updated release, DVD Decrypter should have handled it just fine.
