Hello guys. I have recently entered the DVD authoring and burning universe only ro find it a little more than I can handle. But I'm manaigng, so far.

Ok, I donwloaded a bunh of 24 season 5 episodes in .avi format and tried to make a DVD with Ultra DVD creator and Movie DVD maker. That didn't work because apparently these two did not have an appropriate codec to turn my avi files into vob (even though I downloaded and installed an all-in-one codec pack)

So next I tried using WinAVI for conversion and Nero for burning, wchich worked quite well (almost anyway)

The problem I've been having is keeping aspect ratio. My avi files are widescreen HDTV and I tried to preserve those while making them into vob files. However, when I finished converting and burning and put the DVD in my old tv (not a widescreen tv btw), I did not get the widscreen, I got 4:3. What happened? If I try the DVD on a widescreen will it be widescreen even though it's not on my regular tv?

My second question is also in regard to winAVI. Is there a way for me to batch convert my 24 episodes without having to sit by the computer (to click make unique at the end of each file) or select to merge them into a single file? Is there a way for me to convert each episode as a unique vob file and put it all together in one DVD? Because I tried converting them one at a time, making unique vob files for each episode but that means that winavi saves each vob file under a different folder using the same name for the files. I then tried renaming the files so they'd all got into one DVD but Nero refused to brun the DVD such way!

Finally, Is there a nice easy-to-use program out there that allows me to create a DVD with these vob files and also allows me to add menus in to the DVD? Because Nero just burns the files into the DVD and it starts playing like a VHS as soon as I load it on the DVD player.

Thank you so much to the kind soul who is brave enought to answer all these quesitons!

    Regards, Victor

I used to use WinAVI sometimes it work and sometimes it would screw up my resolution. So i advice u 2 choices:

1st: use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0 (easy and effective) all u do is import any format files creat menus and chapters and u burn it as 4.7GB dvd. You can set any ratio resolution and much more there.

2nd: u use TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator (set there 16:4 ratio) convert your files into mpeg files and open up in TMPGEnc DVD Author (it accepts only mpeg, m2v and VOb files)

Been using those 2 options for like 2 years now, good luck.
