Hello everybody, I softmodded my Xbox close to 2 years ago. I haven't updated anything on it since then, but here's my setup:

Default Dash: EvolutionX (not sure the version number)
I have XBMC installed too that I use quite often (the main reason I bought a wireless adapter)

I just received the MS Xbox Wireless G Adapter today off flebay. It only came with the power cord and the adapter (no setup CD). When I use the EvolutionX dashboard to go into the MS dashboard and then to the network settings, it immediately kicks me right back on to my default dashboard (EvolutionX). What can I do about this? If I had the network CD that came with the adapter, could I set it up with my current system? If so, how can I get the CD (could someone possibly rip and send it to me?)

Also, the wireless adapter's "Wireless" light constantly blinks green. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but it never has been a solid green. Anyhow I live somewhat out in the country with no close neighbors, so I don't encrypt my wireless signal--not sure if that's a factor or not, but I thought I'd bring it up.

How can I go about setting this wireless configuration up?

Well I've been looking around on other sites trying to research into my problem a little bit more, and according to a user on xbox-hq:

"I can access network settings through my evox dash but when I run the MS dash and try to access it it boots back to evox. I think it's because it's supposed to block XBL. So is it possible to use an adapter? I have the original xbox MS wireless adapter."

    REPLY:

"Depending on how you softmodded your box then yes, the softmod will block access to the XBL since you'd be banned in a nano second.
You'll need to have a dual boot action like SID 4 creates.
One that's a mod and one that acts as a retail box.
    It's the only way."

Isn't there some settings I can alter to give me access to change the Network Settings under the MS dashboard? I never and don't ever plan on using Xbox Live. I just want to be able to FTP media files wirelessly via XBMC. I don't have the proper game or equipment to re-softmod my Xbox because I did it at a friend's house who now lives like a 1000 miles away--so trying to redo the softmod isn't a very ideal fix for me since I'd have to rebuy the equipment.

Well I was able to figure out 1 way around this problem. I hooked up the wireless adapter to my Xbox 360. I configured some settings and it worked just fine. I then took the adapter straight to my original Xbox and it worked like a charm. Hopefully this info will help people in the future if they run into a similar problem.
