So when I installed my processor (Q6600 - LG775 intel) into my xfx 790i motherboard. I got it place, i think..like I double check online, and all the notches lined up, but it didn't exactly flush with socket. It was close, but not exact.

So I retired a bunch, and nope. So I put the processor in place and when I was locking it in place, it made a weird noise...kinda like light pinching or grinding...I don't know it didn't sound right, and I couldnt pull up anything on google about it.

So I took it out again, and the pins were all fine, everything was fine...and I repeated this like 3 times....and just left it and continued onward, with the CPU cooler n everything...., but I hope it boots come thursday. Have any of you ever experienced this???

I honestly can't say I have. If all the pins in the socket are intact though, there's not much to lose from testing it.

True...it was weird. It shouldn't make a sound when you flip secure latch over the processor right? (other than the sound of the hatch flipping over and clicking in flipping over)
