Hello all... I have this problem that I need someone's expertise on. I am trying to burn a software application onto Prodisc CD-R 52x speed media using Plextor PX-716A[/] machine with Plextools. When I burn disc at any high speed (16x+) - I am able to burn and verify the disc. Everything is kosher. Hut when I try to play the disc in a computer drive - it won't work and shows Cyclic Redundancy Check errror. If I burn the disc with the same data content at speeds lower than 16x - everything is fine and the disc works... I have tried burning this disc in other brands' burners and it always the same - if I lower the speed - everything goes just fine, but if the recording speed goes above 16x - I get Cyclic Redundancy Check error. Does it seem as though there's something wrong with the media? The same happens with DVD-R Prodisc 8x speed (MFCode ProdiscF01) media. The recorded DVD-R can be used only if it has been recorded at 2x speed. Bt I am posting the detailed thread about DVD-R into DVD-R section... Has anyone got any thoughts on this, please?
Cool you stated a problem, and the solution all in one. You just verified what cheap bad media is capable of!! If I know I'm using cheaper media, I always burn very slow. When creating just Data disks for my own drives I'll burn fast with good media. But really, for the most part I'm usually burning 4X or less for critical burns(movies, games). Weycraze
Hey Weycraze, Thanx for your message. Hm... I can not entirely agree with you on the cheapness of the media... It is only marginally cheaper than Ritek. Prodisc also used to make OEM Mitsui media and are currently making OEM Mitsubishi/Verbatim discs. I suppose this fact speaks for itself. Thanks for your input anyway...
Hey, IMHO some drives just don't like certain media for some strange reason, one of my old Sony CDRW drives would only accept CDR and not CDRW!! Weycraze
yeah i have a Plextor also and it just DOESNT like prodisc so i would def. change media CD-R use Maxell,TDK or Sony burning at 16X and DVDs use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 4X .The Taiyo Yudens are also good for the CD-Rs
thanx aabbccdd... I would probably agree with you suggestion about Plextor... I have the same feeling. I have burnt literally thousands of Prodisc using Pioneer, LG and Ricoh both in CD and DVD media... and had them played in almost evry possible player/setting available in my part of the world. Never had a single complaint so far... Until I came across Plextor... Thanx again for your words...
sure no problem shoot me back if you have any other problems .too add the prodisc are sub par media anyway your MUCH better off with the media i listed above
