    Hello there,

I am posting this under audio, because maybe other users will see it fit for their mp3's or other audio files. But it goes well also for other file types!

So, I am searching for a program that should burn or just sort files in the way, I could use as little cds or dvds as possible.

So, for example, you have mp3s in folders, sorted by artists. Or divx movies you want to backup. You could just hit the type of media you want it to sort to and like what you want to sort, is it folders or files. and instead of using like 30 dvds, you could come out with just 20.

Any ideas or is it too confusing? ;)

Maybe there is an option in Nero I have never seen?

no, no, it's not just burning. Its sorting files in the way the size best fits the smallest quantity of media.

like it calculates the sizes of files and combinates so they fit each dvd or cd.

And I repeat, it's not burning just 1 dvd (or cd)! Not so noob :p

do you remember when we used to record songs on cassettes ;) a compilation of preferred songs.

And you had a problem mixing them. You needed to find a logic system to put them all on each side of it. but the problem was in which order, because their lenght was different!

So, I am making a compilation of files and wanted to sort them on different dvds but using as little space as possible.

    @ gewit

It would i think be pretty unlikley there's a program that does what you want, it'll most probably end up that you have to do it manually, personally why bother, the cost of cd's & dvd's are so cheap nowadays, even commercial media does'nt take up the whole disc, the only other thing i'll add is search for free editing programs that can remove the front & end of mp3's & mpegs of the empty area at the beginning & end of songs

when we had cassettes we knew how many minutes we had.we looked at what we wanted to record and calculated manually how many songs we could tape.its math.
