My question is every time that I play F.E.A.R. it lags up. It is not my processor or my video card. Here I will tell you what I got. I got a 256 ati radeon x850 platinum edition for my video card, a Intel Pentium D 840 3.2GHz Extreme Edition with HT for my Processor, and a 1gb of DDR2 ram. So, I know that it is not my computer. I go into the F.E.A.R. options and it says that my computer is high and I play the game on medium . But every time I play it and when it starts to lag, it makes the same noise as when I start my computer up. I can't explain what it sounds like, but I think it is coming from my hard drive and it only happens when it is trying to load up something big. And one more thing my hard drive gets defraged a lot and it is a 160gb 10,000 r.p.m. hard drive (I think it is a western digital, but I don't know). So my question is, is there a program that could increase the data coming from the hard drive so it could be processed faster or a program that would defrag my hard drive better then microsoft's defrsg program, or some thing like that to stop the lag in single player. Thanks
if you have an intel processor which i think you said you did, you could try intel application accelerator, that may work however i have found it to create an issue with computer crashing under certain cirucmstances (very rare) also you could try to enable the UDMA66 transfer which supposably increases transfer speeds of your drives. another option would be to disable your antivirus when trying to load the game and other high memory use or real-time applications. temporarily of course. ummm other than that i dont know unfortunately.
