    hey all,

will them core i7's be enough to play 1080p x642 mkv all that stuff, blu ray rips and stuff?

if you couldn't follow that basically i want to build a computer to play everything but not offload stuff to the GPU. I plan to use XBMC because I love it as a player, and it does not use the GPU (even though you can set it to use other programs - that may use the GPU - to play particular files)

Should be fine. You'd be wise to edit your post for language before a mod spots it.

My 2GHZ single-core laptop with shared video memory will play 720P video just fine...An I7 should do 1080p just fine.

You'd be amazed what a difference there is between 720 and 1080 in terms of hardware requirements.

Oh yes this is definitely the place to be!

But let's do a refresher on the rules rdxtreme - like your sig for one - too many lines of text and even the 'disguised' language needs to be removed from it. (guess I missed this yesterday!)
Check them out - link in my sig.

rdxtreme, keep editing the sig as still to many lines. yours including the 2 empty lines is 8 lines.
    1. Text-only signatures should have at most 5 lines of text.

It has rules, and trust me, those rules were here in 2006 - I was here then, and had to conform to them then, as I do to them now.

Maybe but it's a big forum - pretty hard for mods to read every post in every thread. So more than likely you just slipped under the wire then.
