    Hi guys,
i finally completed my selection of components,

i will be using this PC for gaming and am planning on overclocking the processor:

    CPU:
    E2180 - eBuyer - £44

    Motherboard:
    Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L - eBuyer - £40

    RAM:
    Crucial 2GB kit - eBuyer - £33

    CPU Cooler:
    Arctic Pro 7 - eBuyer - £15

    Graphics Card:
    Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS - eBuyer - £40

    PSU:
    Hiper 425W - eBuyer - £23

    Total:
    £195 including delivery

(btw other components and peripherals already present)

any comments will be much appreciated,
just one question, the motherboard has only 1 ATA slot, can i connect my hard drive as Master and DVD-RW as Slave? or will i have to buy a SATA drive?

    thanks in advance,
    Mubs

mate that is WAAAAY over budget.

i consulted a PSU calculator and it recommended for me 353W according to the specs of my system.

so im just going with 425 for safety.

Yes, but Hiper PSus break, a lot.
You need a quality unit, you should NEVER limit your budget for a PSU or bad things happen.

    Even worse.

YOU MUST SPEND DECENT MONEY ON A PSU. NO EXCEPTIONS

That's a pretty damn good case. I think I will start recommending that for UKers.

It's good. I was initially veering away from it merely because of how similar the design looked to the Antec 900 - once the full thing was released however, its unique little features became more noticeable, and I actually quite like it. The pair of top 140mm fans that are included with it are a superb idea, and the twin front LED system is different, and welcome. Reasonably priced, well made and well cooled, if you like its looks it's an excellent case.

Yeah, so what if it looks like the Antec 900? As long as it does it's job, well that's all you need.

Exactly - besides, it hasn't exactly picked a controversial role model has it?

The RC-690 is like 10-15 dollars less. If you want to get that, well good for you. I mean it's not a bad case, it matches the Tempest in cooling. The sidefan is kinda annoying though(and I have a HIGH tolerance for noise) and the build quality is a bit flimsy.

Sigh, I see you went with it because it comes with a PSU. That's still not a very good PSU either. By all means get the Elite 330, but buy the version that doesn't come with a PSU, and get the following unit instead:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120375

This is the absolute cheapest PSU I would recommend using.

    right ok thanks for that,
ill go ahead and buy a case and that PSU.

but unfortunatley im not going to have time to put anything together until the end of august because im starting my business within a few days time and then im going away for 6 weeks.

so im thinking that ill just order when i return to see what sort of new things have arrived.

    thanks again,
and i suppose we'll contine this within a couple of months ;)
