I dont know why it only shows 949MB instead of 1074MB. This is the 3rd Card i have bought. I simple take it out of the packaging and inserted in the PSP and turn it on. Then it says that the maximum capacity is 949MB. Am I doing something wrong? can someone please help me out. I have PSP V1.50 and the 1GB (Neon Green) Gamers card
you'll find everything that holds memory has less than it says. this is because, the actual card is 1 gig, but they have had to put on write protected software which is invisible to make sure the memory card can be compatable with the devices. same goes for computer hard drives. if you got a pc with lots of software on it, you could lose gigs worth ho HDD space. hope that answers your question. lethal.
I understand that it should take a bit of the memory card but 51mbs i think that's way too much. 3-4 maybe even 10mbs is ok but 51mbs. I dont think so. Everyone else keep telling me that there's say 1074
if u have a 1gb memory and it has 949 there could be two things one is the format some times formats can take as much space it needs to work or sec your card has bad sectors
were do you get 1074 from as it should be 1024. what does properties say on the size as windows reports 2 sets of numbers.
The Memory Card has a FAT file system (File Allocation Table) and to make that table in order to manage the files contained in the memory card it will take some space off the 1 gig... make the calculations urself. Now why dont they make the memory card a little more than 1 gig... so that when the file allocation table is done 1 gig is left... well i dunno why.. but there's ur ACTUAL answer....
People pls! Note that "512MB" and "1GB" memory cards don't actually have 512MB and 1GB of software storage capacity. Cards marked as "512MB" actually only have 468MB of usable memory and "1GB" cards have 969MB due to formatting overhead and differing definitions of what "megabyte" actually means. According to the storage manufacturer a MB is 1,000,000 bytes, but for software, a MB is 1,048,576 bytes. Don't be surprised when you can't fit that 500MB movie in your 512MB card. Same thing goes for HDD's.
I never said that was the actual size. Its just an example. IM just saying that u will not get a full 1GB. You will get less becuase of formatting stuff and the other things.
Well thanks everyone for all the help and the info. My girlfriend was just happy that she was able to take my PSP with her to London, instead of a dvd player. I also bought a 40GB external harddrive for the PSP, which I upload with a bunch of movies. Its great because you can travel without having to carry a bunch of UMD's. Plus I converted shows that I know are never going to be on UMD, that she likes. Black Adder, Wooster & Jeeves, and Mr.Bean. Well Thanks Again
Its a self powered harddrive that can use with anything. Its mainly use for Laptops, but it can be use with your PSP. It has a display and it shows you what files you have stored in it. Plus it lets you transfer them to your PSP. But you still have to have a memory stick in your PSP. To Matt5112: I got the Apacer one. Is there another one that is cheaper and works just the same. I got mine for 144 plus shipping. I love it, but what sucks is that after I had order it I found 80G on another website for ONLY $40 MORE!! oh well, I'll try to sell it on EBAY when my girl get back. LMAO
Its 189.99 for the 80G which I still think is not that much. Here's the link. http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.592/it.A/id.701/.f
LMAO. To be honest I dont think that is that slow. It takes about 2 minutes to transfer a 315MB movie from my Hard Drive to the PSP. Hey Matt what are the best settings for converting a movie to mp4. Without it taking a lot of memory. Also what do you use to convert, PSPVIDEO9 or 3GP Converter? Let me know man PLEASE!!!!!! Because "My Friend" (cough) gave me a copy of Blood The Last Vampire, it was only 215MB with really HQ video and great sound. Any info would be great.
Thanks for the info Matt. Hey man you have to check this web site out. Its Freakin hilarious http://happytreefriends.atomfilms.com/watch_episodes/index.html#
