Purchased DVD from India, (am in Canada), i get video but no sound on DVD player but plays fine on laptop

    hello everyone i am new to this site....i would like to know i brought dvd from india and i try to play in canada i get video but no sound and i put the dvd on my laptop and it works fine with audio and video i would like to know how to make it work on my dvd player

    I was going to say that it sounds like a simple case of a regional issue ie a DVD from one 'region' not working in another region, but it doesn't make sense if you had video playing..

    Here's some info on DVD regions ~ http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/dvd3.htm apologies if you already know that. Don't know what to suggest, hopefully someone else will join and help you.

    Maybe you have some odd audio stream that your player does not decode. Did you try to switch the audio with your remote(in case you have more than one track and it defaults to the non playable one)?

    Get some info about the DVD, what audio is present(if not on the DVD cover, open it in a ripping program, like DVDFab, or an info program like MediaInfo or GSpot ).
