I bought a PX-712A DVD burner a while ago, and it worked fine for a while. Then it started messing up every DVD it burned, so I called support and they had me test it and I got it replaced. Now this new one burns DVDs fine, but it is screwing up when I burn CDs. When I first started using this new one, I could burn CDs at 48x, after about 20 of those, I could only burn at 32x or it would fail. Now I can only burn at 16x without it failing. I would like to not have to get it replaced again, so if anybody has any helpful information for me as to why this happens, I'd be appreciative.
Sorry, but sounds like you need another replacement to me... I had the same problem with my PX-708A. After a few DVD+R's and CD-R's it became defective. It didn't burn any CD-R, and DVD+R burning speed was lowered to 2.4x. The replacement arrived in 3 days and still works perfectly. 3th time's a charm! ;-)
