Hey for some reason my plextor 716a burner won't burn faster than 4x anymore! I amusing the same TY 8x dvd-r that i used before (from the same pack) and it wont burn past 4x. Dvd Decrypter says it can be burned at 4x, 8x but it just stopped burning at 8x. I tried uninstalling the burner + ide Controller and updating the firmware to 1.08 but there is no change. Any idea?

I burn Verbatim and Ridata in my 716A, and have never had a problem with burn speeds. Try something other than the TY's, and see if you can get the speed up to snuff.

You have some program running that is messing with it. You may never figure it out since it could be a virus or spyware or any crazy thing. You can try doing a selective startup to diagnose it or you can do what I did and back up any important files and do a fresh install of Windows, which, if you were burning at normal speeds, should bring them back again.

very weird problem. TY are awesom media. A bit pricey, but great. I prefer Ritek's

Is it only DVD dycrypter that is slowing it down - how bout nero or any other buring proggies you use?

Nero does the same thing. I have Ritek and that burned at 4x. Verbatim burned at 8x even though i attempted 16x. What i don't get is that 8x and 16x are being bogged down, but 4x is fine. I also had no problems with the other TY dvds i used from the same pack.
