You can get films off most P2P apps like Bit Torrent, E-mule, bear share etc. Some films are recorded by a camcorder but they're normally not very good in quality. Others maybe a version stolen from the movie studio. I don't quite know how they are obtained but as you know it's illegal downloading them and selling them will result in a hefty fine or jail sentence if caught.
The reason some pirate DVDs are good quality is because some movies are out to buy (retail) at places in the world like America when in certain places like the UK they might have just got to the cinema.
True, but there are some films released the same time in Britain and America. Wonder how those are obtained.
groups that have access to a cinema and to a Telecine machine usually produce better quality by doing a digital copy of the reel (which can be almost the same quality as a DVD if the machine is good), screeners are usually obtained for people that work in video shops. Sometimes DVDs are even stolen from the production lines were there getting made for release. There's a good FAQ about different sources at vcdquality hxxp://www.vcdquality.com/index.php?page=faq#4
Thanks for the info p4_tt. BTW do you know how music albums are obtained and put on the net weeks before their release date.
So P4_tt which production company do you *cough* 'borrow' movies from j/k. I've wondered about this as well and I pretty much had similar thoughts to Weazel. Your response clarified it quite well.
