The Apex 420 condensor... it has a 1-inch diaphragm, and I'm going to be using a mic (maybe this one, if i buy it...?) for some general recording. nothing high end, but i don't want it to be too slow when responding to transients, and with the large diaphragm i'm afraid it might not be very bright... any opinions?
i actually use the 420 apex in my home studio a very versitile microphone!! i get really good quality vocals (when using a pop sheild) and even get bright and clear acoustic guitar when mic'ing it up at the 12th fret instead of over the sound hole. this is a good solid choice of mic for recording, not the best in the world but its a good place to start - the quality of the sound you get using it tho will count on your other equip. as with most things audio related there is no point playing a Gibson SG thru a peavy 12w practice amp - your just not doin it justice!
