well i am no computer whiz but i have a theory let me know what you think. so here it is. once i install the modchip the xbox is ready for ftp or so i understand. then via ethernet cable i should be able to browse the original xbox hDD for the ''eprom'' data. then i should be able to cut & paste the "eprom" data from the original xbox hDD to my computer's hDD. the i install the maxtor 120gig hDD into the xbox. then i should be able to ftp the "eprom" data from the hDD on my computer the new and empty maxtor hDD that i have installed into the xbox. if my theory is correct please let me know and if my theory is completely and totally bogus once again let me know and tell me another way to transfer the "eprom" before i f*^ck up...THANK YOU

You can't just ftp the eeprom to your comp then plug in the new hdd and ftp it back. The new hdd needs to formatted and locked. Here's a tutorial for upgrading a hdd on a softmodded xbox, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/203286 But it sounded like you had a chip, if you do, upgrading your hdd is much more simple.
