Hi, I bought an X-Box in 2004 for my son, who is now eight and the cord to the controller finally gave out. These original X-Box controllers are not available in stores but new and used ones are easy to find on-line. My son's unit has an oblong cord plug-in fitting [Looks like a rectangle with rounded left and right sides. I have seen a couple of controllers on-line that appear to have perfectly round cords, which would not work. Either the people selling them took a bad picture or there are really two different types of controller plug-ins available. I think one of the ones I saw, with the apparently round plug-in, was an "S" controller. So my question is this: Is there more than one type of plug-in or are they all oblong? If there is only one plug-in fitting, I'm in good shape, if not, if someone could please clue me in to what to ask for when I shop for one, I'd really appreciate it. Again, this is for an original X-Box, not a 360. Thanks, Pete
All controllers have the oblong fitting you described. The pictures you are seeing are probably controllers that do not have the short 6" break away part that looks like an s-video connection. If the controller does not have the break away piece then you can buy that separate for about $5.
