I didn't make a back up of my eeprom. Its on my xbox put my dash isn't working and the only way to fix it is to hotswap it and that requires a eeprome and dash. So is there a place to get a eeprom. Is a eeprom a bio's file?
If you could download a eeprom file and use it, 80% of this forums previous posts would have been so much simpler to help. No, you cannot get an eeprom file on the internet. Even if you did, an eeprom.bin is only good with one Xbox, the Xbox it was made for. It is a complex HDD password with other data only meant for your Xbox. You are correct, you can only fix your Xbox via a hotswap, assuming your Xbox turns on with an error 7 and loads no dash. Hotswap fixes many errors, except hardware fried. You can hotswap without an Eeprom, you can use the most common and preferred UnleashX via Ndure. You could just burn CDs using different kernals till you get the right one though. Tedious, but ultimately you get the right one. I will help where I can.
This is what ive been useing for directions: Hotswap Tutorial - Recover a HDD without Eeprom Backup Hardware Needed: - A PC (remove all HDD's), blank CD-R/W and A CD Burner - Torx 10 And Torx 20 Screwdrivers - To Open XBOX Software Needed: - XboxHDM 1.9 - DVDdecryptor - C drive backup or latest MS dash IMPORTANT: Make sure the Xbox and PC are close to each other Steps: 1. If you got a backup of your C you don't need to download latest MS Dash, if you don't have a backup download MS Dash and keep it ready on your PC. 2. Unpack xboxhdm onto your PC. 3. Put the MS Dash in the C folder into the xboxhdm\linux folder and overwrite the ones already there. 4. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish. It will make an .iso file. 5. Burn this file with DVD Decrypter, and leave the CD in the PC. 6. Unplug the Xbox DVD-ROM IDE cable, take the power cable off the DVD-ROM. 7. Turn on the PC, Before the PC BIOS looks for Hard Drives, hit the Pause/Break key. It should pause at this time. 8. Turn on the Xbox. 9. It will boot to an error code (#11) regarding the DVD-ROM, but the Hard Drive will be unlocked, this way you'll get xboxhdm to access it on first attempt 10. Hit space bar to continue booting the PC. If it takes a long time to boot (several minutes), then the HD has not been unlocked. 11. You will get a menu, now choose Option 1 (by typing ‘1’) and press enter to boot VGA console with Xbox-drive utilities (default). Type ‘xboxhd’ when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says ‘Build a new Xbox HD from scratch’) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. when it asks you about C type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes . 12. Power down PC and Xbox. 13. Put the Hard Drive back in the Xbox and boot. PLEASE NOTE: If you get a message about a frozen drive, just disable auto detect for the drive (xboxhdm will detect the HDD even if it's disabled!) Should i use your tutorial. Whats easyer. I dont mind if it go's back to micrsofts origanal firmware cause i softmoded by a game save exploit. I had the latest firmware on my xbox when i did it. Ive also never takin out our put in harddrives in the computer before. I know were there located though. Is there anything i should know before i take my computers harddrive out and put in my xbox. wtf??.. can't fix an error7 without an eeprom.bin or a chip .. simple as.. error7 is FRIED HDD - hardware failure.. unlocking a fried hdd achieves like what exactly? now then to help the OP .. stop wasting your time.. hotswap will allow modifying files ON THE ORIGINAL HDD ONLY .. your pc drive is useless as it will not lock to the xbox mobo... go on.. try it.. but hope like hell your original xbox drive locks when you power it down or you will have 2 error5 drives on your hands and a crash course in electronics, which as you seem unable to read things and comprehend the implications of the words and instructions might be a long process. your course of action if you are getting error7 is these days just go and buy another.. sell the scrap on ebay or keep it for parts... never know.. one day you might build or be given an eeprom reader what actual error are you getting?... that's WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW TO HELP YOU!!!! stop listening to demonix.. my little finger has forgotten more about xbox systems than he has ever known. You don't ALWAYS need to hotswap to fix errors.. sometimes you can just boot a live enabled game and that will fix it for you. It depends just what you have screwed up or what has failed.
