Is it normal for A Back Up DVD's quality to differ from the original copy of the DVD? I notice when I play a Back Up DVD the pixels are more noticable, err... if that makes any sense. Thanks. Danzig.
Yeah, you lose quality every time you go from one disc to another, If you were doing a direct copy the loss would be very small, however when you apply compression you can loose a lot. You have to do what you can to limit the compression. Programs like DVD Shrink and Nero Recode 2 have features that perform a "deep analysis" on the files which allows them to fit more accuratly on the disc so less compression may be needed. Removing features from your DVD compilation such as the menu and audio tracks helps to reduce the amount of compression also. Happy 2004! Frank
A direct copy or any copy where you leave the film uncompressed is exactly the same quality as the original, being digital and all.
