How do I tell how fast my burner is running on the burn? Is this something that is built into the burn program itself. I am using CopyToDVD.I have a 4x drive but do not know if I'm getting max speed or not?

It's been taking about an 45min to an hour to burn. This is a Sony 4x 510 drive. How do I see how fast it's burning? I've seen some graphs on the forum but I can't find one?

The actual burn, or the whole process takes 45 min.

The actual burn takes about 45 minutes. Obviously I'm not getting 4X speed out of my burner which I think is a problem other people have had as well!

Well it could be the media. Not all 4X media burns as such with all burners. Maybe this chart will help you find some that does.

If you have Nero CD/DVD Speed you can pop in a blank and run the 'Transfer Rate' test. It will take a little while to start, but when it does note the starting speed. With my 4X media in my burner it starts at 3.94X (4X).

You can get it here free.

    Thank You!
I downloaded the program and ran the test. The drive started at 3.99 and ran 4X. The blank disk that I used was a DVD-R so I'm assuming it's no good? I am going to be using Ritek DVD-R GO4 4X media so I should be able to get 4X burns. What is the average burn time for a 4X burn?

That's good. It means that Nero recognizes the media as 4X in your drive and should burn it at 4X.
