as far as i know that little dealy you can buy is just for a mouse or a keyboard. Pretty sure you have to mod it up :)

Sadly yes cassious, you have to go through the modification process. This is because your Xbox motherboard is married to the original Xbox hard drive and if changed it will not boot up correctly and always give you an Error 5 message. You could always send your box into this site http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/ and get it professionally modded. Then you can add any upgraded hard drive you want to your Xbox.

If you were to use the usb in a controler port and hook an external hdd to it,I think the most it would do (providing that it reads it) would be it would think it's a memory card. (H or J drive if I'm correct). This would go for modded as well....it's a shot in the dark, but who would want a 200gig memory card? hehe

Now if you modded the thing....

What you can do is look into an Xtender where you can have extra hard drives....or if you can get your hands on an IDE cable with an extra device on it you can make a switch between the two hdd's powers (5v and 12v...casue you don't want the other one spinning) and then you can switch between the two. You would have to shutdown and switch though,it'd be like a duel boot almost.

I'd look into the Xtender personally.
