Firstly thanks for reading this. I've actually ripped dvds in the past but have forgotten everything I knew. I have Nero 8 and AVS Media on Win XP. Lost any other software for this. How do I rip a DVD movie? Do I use those programs or something else? I want to be able to put several movies on one DVD. Do I have to use dvdshrink or something else first? Does ripping a dvd always result in VOB files? I hate them b/c I don't know what to do with them. My AVS Media software lets me convert files that I download to other formats but not VOB. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Well I'm not really sure about the software you are using, But i will tell you this I use DVD HD fab Decrypter. And then DVD shrink burns them using nero. You can email me at ***removed by creaky*** if you'd like.

    jaden4kc,

There are multitude of ways to do this. But primarily DVDFab HD Decrypter is the "cream of the crop" when it comes to cracking DVD ecryptions. Then, reauthor/compress with DVD Shrink and burn with Nero, ImgBurn or other comparable burning software.

A VOB file is a container format for DVD-Video files. So essentially, when ripping DVDs you always come up with these files. Again, to write them you can use Nero Burning ROM, Nero Express or the freeware ImgBurn--in which case VOBs are converted into ISO format first.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out dvdfab and find my copy of dvdshrink. May have more questions later.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at that too. Replacing my burner so it may be a week or two before I get to try things out and possibly have more questions. Thanks all.

    jaden4kc,
Not a problem. Just update the thread if you are unsure about something.
