I was just wondering some stuff about upgrading firmware. Reason being my parents got me a new ilo 1gb mp3 player and I know I can upgrade the firmware on it but I wanted to know the advantages of doing so. Thanks for any help in advance.

theres probably no real advantage to doing it. it may change how the menus are structured i suppose but i cant really see what kind of impact it would make
It is dependant upon the reason for the firmware upgrade... look at the "what's new" or "changes" text and see what changes have been made since your firmware version. If it's just a fix for a Mac issue and you have a Win machine, for instance, then there is no need to update the firmware. If it's a patch to increase battery life, then it might be a good idea to update.
