I will try to make this as brief as possible but I have a fair amount of questions hopefully someone can help me out with... I recently bought a Memorex 8x =/- Dual Format Internal burner at Best Buy a few days ago, mainly for data storage because i didn't feel like burning 40 gigs onto CDRS. I installed it where my old dvd rom was and made the jumper setting the same. It burns data fine, but I do come across errors when I try burning video projects... I am planning on buying the full version of Nero the next time I can wake up early enough to go out before work, but when I use the Nero Express suite which came packaged with my burner, I can't seem to burn any kind of video projects. I don't think it is the media, because I get the same errors when I try burning to my hard drive first. Whenever I try burning a collection of mpegs, it goes well for like 20-25% of the job then I get errors while transcoding, any ideas? Also, I tried backing up a copy of Bruce Almighty, following the steps in the guide section with Shrink DVD, and all goes well for about 20-30% then I either get a vague error message or my computer restarts. I have 30 gigs free space so it can't be space, so I have no idea. Are some DVD's copy-proof or is maybe my drive not installed properly? I have a P3 933mhz with 128 ram, it runs really smooth but could that be a problem? The whole thing is more annoying than anything, I got the drive mostly for data backup but would like to be able to use it for other things occasionally. Finally, I work in graphic design and for our full processed color publications we have to make sure our color pics are in CMYK format as opposed to RGB, but the pics I tried to make a dvd slide show from I converted to RGB, would that make any difference? I assume not, considering most people who would be using this feature probably wouldn't have their color pictures in CMYK format. I apologize for the rambling nature of this post (it is late), I really don't like to think I am this stupid on a PC but any help to any of my issues will be appreciated. Thanks!
To add one more thing, my errors seem to come in the actual encoding part of the process as opposed to the burning. Minus burning data DVDs, I can't seem to reach the point when I have something to burn in a video mode.
This will be my last post and I'm sure nobody cares about my running diary here but I just realized my file system is FAT32 on XP so I will convert and see if that helps at all.
hi there yes you must be on NTFS not fat32! although the new shrink i think is ok with fat32 now? may need to set it? Goodluck!
