I want to back up my DVDs of The Simpsons in AVI format, what would be the best method to do this and how would you seperate the episodes on each disk into their own seprate avi file? Another thing that i'm curious about is, I have already backed up most of my Simpson's DVDs on DVDR blank media disc and was wondering if creating my AVIs from my DVD backups would be any different than creating them from my originals in terms of quality? Lastly in terms of Audio and Video picture quality settings is their something which is considered "the standard" or do most people set those things up according to individual preference?
Try AutoGK..If you ripped your DVDs in full(no compression) then you're good to go and safe to say the quality is as good as original..If you applied any compression, to fit single layer disc for instance, then no the quality is already compromised..Use originals..That said, if the quality is good to your eyes, then go for it.. When converting to AVI, I normally stick to a min ~1,200kbp/s encodes for 1.5 to 2hr flicks..But yeah, it's mostly a personal preference for me..
