My girlfriend wants her Pink DS Lite modded to play games like we use the PSP's and what not, to play our backups of games of course.

but seeing as how i'm not really involved in the DS world at all, i'm unsure of a few things.

    1. What exactly is needed? (Where to get started)
    2. What's the simplest and least complicated way to do this? (is there some type of system firmware that is required?)
2a. Is there an easier software out of what's available?(user interface)
    3. How to back up carts? (for backing up)
    4. Pro's / Con's on lifespan of GB-DSL?
    5. Is there easy homebrew for playing NES/SNES/SEGA? (GB/GBA I'm not sure if she'd be interested in those)
    6. Anywhere in the US for items needed?

I believe that's all i'm looking for really? I feel like a Nub for asking this stuff, but there isn't really a sticky on where to start this kind of thing (and no i didn't find it in search or in the read 2nd sticky) Sorry if any questions seem ignorant or just plain silly, but like i said before, i've not messed w/ the NDS before.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

    very easy.
    1. you need to buy a Flash Card, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_storage_devices
    2. you need to buy a micro sd memory card (some flash cards have built-in memory)
    3. download firmware from manufacturers website, unpack and copy/paste over to micro sd.
    4. add game roms
    5. plug every into dsl and play.
i suggest you look into Supercard DSone, CycloDS, Edge DS and Acekards. search google for their websites.
if you wants gba roms, i suggest you get the EzFlash V+ Combo pack.
cheapest place to buy them is www.dealextreme.com . free delivery anywhere.

ALso, I have purchased from gameyeeeah.com (might be plus or minus a 'e'). I bought the M3 DS Real. I highly suggest that card. It is EXTREMELY to use and setup. It's interface is really intuitive, and it works great.

thanks for the responses so far, would like more feedback from others aswell, not saying your 2s input isn't enough, but i would like to make an semi-educated decision about which route to take. so please keep sending info/answers on my questions. And perhaps more info as it seems all my questions have not been answered. thanks again.

further knowledge, GBA doesn't matter, so just for DS games, and Emulators possibly of NES/SNES/SEGA (those she might just keep using the PSP for though, but info on that would be helpful as well.)

Not saying the first two posts weren't informative, but i still need alot of those questions answered.

well if you want help... I guess you have to deal with me since I'm the only one offering

    http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/M3-DS-Real-PERFECT-Bundle-p-2805.html

That is the exact package that I purchased when getting my m3 ds real. I have it setup to play my backups of the ds games that I own. I also have a super nintendo emulator installed which works. I haven't messed around with a nes or sega yet, but I will be doing so soon.
