I was wondering before I went and tried it if it's better to rip all the files from a dvd to the harddrive first or simply select the dvd itself as the source in dvd2one? That would go faster, but would it work? Is it that the dvd rippers decrypt the copy protection during the ripping process? Also, what exactly are the variable ratio/constant ratio options in dvd2one? I know the compression mode, but what's the difference between the two? Thanks.

You've probably realised it that dvd2one does not have a 'ripper' included in the program....

So you would need a seperate ripper such as dvd decrypter or smartripper.....

Or you can do what you originally asked using dvd shrink - you can rip/strip/compress and re-author DIRECTLY from the disc....

Check out http://www.chrismccann.co.uk for a step by step guide.....

Check out http://www.dvd2one.com/ratio.php for the compression explaination_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down
