This is a strange one this that has got me baffled.
MY Niece has a new R4 card that we work in everyones elses DS but not her own.I have treid her machine with some other cards, simply DS and DSTT card and they all work no problems.
I put her new card into our other two DS consoles and the R4 worked in here also.
I have been reading past threads and tried ,taking battery out and reloading new R4 software.
No luck as yet any ideas.
It only this one machine that the R4 will not work on,incompatibilty???.

Just a random "in case" question - does your daughter have a DSi? The original R4v2 (and the R4v2 / R4 SDHC I think) don't work on the DSi.

Otherwise, are you getting a "Loading..." error or is the screen freezing at the very first loading screen? If the latter, it means there's something wrong with the CONTACT between your DS and the card. If the former, then something weird is going on that I haven't encountered before!

Cheers for yor reply DS_dad.Further to this i have found of the contacts in the card slot dis-lodged.(it is sticking up in the air)Tried to press it down but looks as though either a game or card has been rammed into the slot damaged this one pin.
However the reason why the other cards work ,is because there are guiding rails on the cards(simply ds and ds tt)where as on the R4 card there are just smoooth slots. This one pin that is dislodged as you say must not be making contact.
I wonder if it may just be worth buying one of these other cards ,instead of trying to get the damaged Card port repaired.????
    Thanks again.

Depends how you are at soldering - its not easy but its not that difficult either. The slot costs about $12.
