i recently bought an R4 card for my daughter, after using it for a short while the DS stopped working (no power). i returned it to the shop where i purchased it and they sent it for repair, i received a brand new one 2 days ago and used the R4 card again, the same thing happened, is this a common occurence with the R4 or could there be something else causing my DS to blow?????

If you need the fuses or want them replaced for you, see the following link.

If you need fuses they are surface mount 603 style 500ma RS type suppliers sell them at £1.80 for 10 - 18p each

    Hi,

Your DS can be saved by bridging the fuses with a simple blob of solder , the R4 you have should be put in the bin.

Yes you can try blobing the solder, however any problem in the future and the whole DS is toast, have seen one get hot enough to melt the plastic. If you have nothing to loose then fine for a short term fix, but replace the fuses, they are cheap enough - even Ticfever has reduced his prices (yes he has been kicked off many a forum for touting for business rather than helping people)
