    Hi,

I am a newbie and I am not really sure what I should be doing to download games onto R4.

I have download tew new version of software and have the 4 files on my card in the root and I have just added a file ending .NDS direct into the root but when I touch the Game icon on the screen I am then tken to a menu that says four files one is my nds game file one is Ds_menu.dat, one id ds_menu.sys and other is ds_mshl.nds. When I try to select the game (or any of the others) I get the message Not suport adapter?

    Can anybody help me?

    Thanks
    Very much
    Kerry

The R4 firmware contains 4 files: system_ (folder); moonshl (folder); _DS_MENU.DAT; and _DS_MSHL.NDS. Drag all these to the root directory of your micro-SD card, so altogether you should have 5 files including the game. For easy ROM management, create a new folder on your root directory and name it whatever you like. Drop the ROMs in this folder.

    Hi,

I have just put the card into US@B and checked on the computer and I have those 4 you mentioned plus my game all in the root ot in other files. Two of thoses files are folders with other files in as that correct? But yes there are 5 files svae in the root of the disc.

Any more advice would be really welcome...

    thanks

What brand of micro-SD card are you using? Also, R4 doesn't support SDHC, anything more than 2GB.

Where did you download the firmware from? Is it v.1.14?

Did you open the folder (English v1.15) of the R4 firmware? You need to open the folder, instead of just dragging the whole folder to the root directory.

ive replied to your private message , what you was doing is a very easy mistake , you was just pressing the wrong icon and starting moonshell media player ( only for music and video ) which dosent play games !

on the r4ds menu you have 3 icons as follows -

first icon is for playing nds games

second icon is for monshell media player ( music and video )

third icon is for booting to slot 2 for playing gba games ( gameboy advance )

hope ive cleared that up for you , woof811.

i suppose it can be an easy mistake for anyone new to the r4ds as when you boot up the r4ds it does say game under the middle icon and i can see how that would confuse newbies .
