    Not much difference between them.

If "watch wireless MSN" means you want to Web surf, you may not want either of these carts and you may want something else. Like the M3 Real. Or the Cyclo. I _THINK_ (Mr. Hanky will know for sure) that the newer carts that can handle SDHC have more capabilites and can handle Web browsing better.

You may need extra memory in the other slot of the DS as well so that is something to keep in mind.

quite happy with the sound of that. its for my daughter and she wants msn to chat with her mates. i'd assume occasional web brwsing too. what do you mean about extra memory card? i already have a 2gb micro sd for storing some games etc
    thanks btw

You surf the web with the R4 or M3 Simply with Nintendo DS browser (requiring the memory expansion which comes with the official cart or something similar) Or you can surf the web using the browser in DSOrganise - excellent free homebrew and requires no expansion. Movies, music, games etc of course all run on these cart as well.

Beup is the main DS homebrew proggy for msn (though I've never tried it).

You would use the micro card for storing files etc. I think you then can put extra RAM into the GBA slot to use for surfing. That's how the Opera browser things works. I'm sure somebody willprovide a link to a GBA slot RAM thing faster than I could.

The memory expansion is used for the browser caché I would guess... The NDS browser was developed without the idea that ppl were going to be running 3rd party cartridges which would have some memory available - therefore the memory in your sd card can NOT be addressed by the NDS browser apart from the save file that all games have as standard in the cartridge software. The NDS browser addresses the memory expansion and that is fixed.

To me it's obvious - they don't cater for ppl who would generally be using 3rd party stuff which is nothing to do with official Nintendo software and more to do with piracy :)

I bought Nintendo browser - because it was the only way I could run it and I think it's fair enough not to assume that just cos you bought a backup enabled cartridge that enables copied roms that it's carte blanche to run anything you like - you are still supposed to pay for commercial software. I'm not bashing pirates - I'm just saying you can't complain :)

But like I say - you have the option of DSOrganiser's browser which is free - not bad but not as good as the paid for browser.
