I have a mac and have spent quite alot of money on R4 cards and sd cards 4Gb to 16gb, I have downloaded the software for the updgraded version I also had a standard r4 card that had games on done via PC and I added to them, standard r4 card and sd card 2mg appeared to crash, used upgraded r4 card, loaded games on sd card, they all look okay but card dies in nintendo, you can save them and they appear to work but they are not sustainable. Have probably done everything wrong as am just lifting software and putting in which says it is copying. Am novice, thought I could do it but have failed miserably, all friends and help are PC and not Mac, would really appreciate help......... Seen previous threads but hasn't been a help, as you may be aware do not have a right click. When I downloaded games onto other card all appeared to work fine, have also added 2 games to an R4 card that I paid to have made up for my girls, have I compromised this one as well it is still working but for how long, please help, have also copied disks with games on and they seem okay but there obviously is a problem somewhere.
ok, i have NO idea what you are talking about. so ill give you MY "mac-inized" tutorial. I too have a mac, and spent QUITE a long time trying to figure out how to set up R4. 1.Get a NORMAL R4DS. Not r4III or r4 Extreme or ANYTHING else like that. 2.get a 2gig micro sd card. not 4, not 8. 2.. the larger sizes require a special system that requires windows to set up. 3A.download the V1.18 from the link. CLICK THIS LINK 3B.scroll down and click the english one. 4A.it will show up as a .RAR file.. this is like a .zip file. the average mac doesnt include a unrar program. 4B. if you dont have a unrar program, download it here. CLICK HERE 5.unRAR the file and open its contents. 6.simply DRAG AND DROP the files into your micro SD card. the files should look like this. 7.Make a folder called "games" 8.Place your games inside this folder. 9.turn on your DS. 10.scroll to games. 11.press A 12.press A again 13.ENJOY!
Sorry did send big reply but tried to click on your links and lost it all, have used win rar un rar and rar which I downloaded for free at various times, some of the games I had to download were rar file so needed that to open them. The crux of it is have downloaded software on a 2gb before and it appeared to work fine then my daughter was using it and it stopped working, tried to use another r4 card and it said couldn't find data, when I put the card back into memory card on mac it looked empty but said it was full so couldn't add or take away, the r4 card would also not load an sd card that was working, just said loading........... Tried again with 4gb card games work fine but if you stay in the directory on the nintendo it just dies and the screen goes black and the green light flashes. I think I have done all what you have already said as opposed to download etc.... just don't know why these little probles are arrising, don't want to crash any more r4 cards or sd cards, is it easy to do that, break them I mean, seem to be doing a good job here. Subscribed to that web master collact thing you said but not sure what to do with it now.
The problem with R4's are there are soooooo many (14 if you want to count them!) The original R4 can only use up to 2GB cards - software is 1.18 (last that will officiall be available) Other R4's are named very similar - however get the wrong firmware and it will never work - the loading or menu issue. The site in my signature hosts them all. Select the one you know was working with the 2GB card adstart with this one - firmware and 1 good rom, if the firmware does not work - try another. It is very difficult now with R4 and it is a bit of trial and error - hence they are should no longer be the first choice.
Oh, right. when i first got my R4, after a while it would say its full, eve though it empty. Simple solution. 1.Go to your applications folder, then find teh folder "utlilties" It should be near the bottom. 2.Then open "disk utility" 3.Make sure your mem card is connected. 4.find it on the left side. 5.click "erase" MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR GAMES 6.wait 7.put all your stuff back on the card
Thanks will print off and re look at all the info you have given and re click links to double check everything. Will let you know how I get on and thanks again for responding so soon really appreciate it.
