R4 sdhc problems.

I have been using R4 cards for some time with no probs whatsover, however my latest card, apparently is a different breed, and i am having NO END of trouble getting the NDS ROMS to work, the best i can get to happen is that once the first ROM i select has been played, and i turn the DS off then on to reset it, The R4 card will not boot and i get an ERROR message on the top screen of my DS. The pic below is of the two types i have, the one on the LEFT is my original one and works PERFECTLY with all roms. the one on the RIGHT is my latest purchase and causes the problems i have described. can anyone help me out, I have as far as i can tell the latest firmwire for the new one. If there is no way round this, can anyone point me to where (in the UK) u can purchase the same R4 as on the LEFT of the pic.

 

It could be a dud. Do a lot of research to make sure you are buying it at a reputable site. With its prominence, a lot of fakes have surfaced over the internet. Unfortunately, I live in the US so I can't recommend good sites to buy it from. However, more info about counterfeits is discussed below.

that card uses different software,try www.r4i.co.uk they have different software that works.Also install YSmenu alongside r4 software,this should enable you to play all newer games.Remember to uninstall old software first.

 

I also had the original R4, but purchased this one THINKING it was not a clone only to be surprised :|

this is how you set it up:

1. go to http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp

2. Download the R4i 1.09 kernel from the left hand side

3. Extract the contents and place them in the root of your R4 SDHC

4. Place whatever home brews etc you have on your MicroSD card.

5. ENJOY

I hope that works for you man, that's exactly how I set mine up

PS the original R4 you have is no longer developed, and therefore the original firmware does not support MicroSDHC cards (cards over 2gb) and most R4s sold now are clones... I would recommend either installing YSMenu onto the R4 SDHC, or purchasing;

Both are said to be good, the second I have had. The only thing with the R4i Gold is that you can't skin it, or at least it isn't compatible with original R4 themes...

 

ok so i have the R4 SDHC upgrade revolution for ds (NDSL/NDS),
i have tried downloading a couple of different types of set up type things or what ever the're called. i ahve done so because every one that i have tried on my ds lite it always seems to just come up with a white screen no writing, no nothing. so what i was looking for was a set up download thingo that will work... so if you no what sort of thing i have to download please tell!!!

I have this same card it works fine on my ds lite but wont work on my original ds do i need the same firmware mentioned above? 1.09?
