hi, i recently brought a r4 for the ds. i did not receive a disk with this but have gone to the web site and downloaded and unzipped all the files needed _ds_menu _ds_mshl.nds system (folder) moonshi (folder) and put them on the memory card (which is a kingston 2gb,) then i made a new folder and named it games and put a .nds game file it it, so according to all the sites i have looked at and read, my ds should work when i put the ds back in the r4 card. but all it ever says is system file not found , put system file in, i have put my memory card in my friends r4 card and it loads on the ds straight away, no probs, and when my friend puts her memory card (which works on her r4) in my r4 it says same system file error. shall i send this back at it seems to be broke or have u got another solution.please email back asap/ thanks hayley x
Unless you do not have the same R4 model as your friend, you have pretty much followed a logical troubleshooting path. The only thing left is to verify WHICH version of R4 that you have.
can anyone help, i told my son i would have this done ready for when he wakes up.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have the original R4 revolution for Nintendo DS You should be using Version 1.18 of the software which is available here. http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4_v1.18_kernel.html If the proper installation of this kernel version doesn't resolve your problem I would have to say that your R4DS is defective and should be replaced. If you are returning it for a refund, I suggest that you consider something other than an R4 (of any kind) as a replacement for reasons that are stated in numerous posts throughout this forum.
hi, yes this is the version i have tried a few times, i always download the english version andd download 1 should i be doing download 2 (worldwide) ??
You may have the wrong software, some of the cards are very difficult to tell apart. You could try going to www.gbatemp.net look in the R4 forum and there is an alternative firmware (that runs on most cards) called YSMenu (or something similar) if this works then you have the incorrect firmware, if it doesn't then the card is dead!
If it were me and for whatever reason I couldn't identify the card: 1)Contact the vendor and ask what they sold you and what firmware you should be running or 2)By brute force, go to the link in Kittymat's singature and one by one, try each of the firmwares listed for R4
thanks, i have tried that ysmenu and still didnt work, then i contacted the vendor and they said i should re format the card so did this and put all new files again on from r4ds.com the new one v.18 english. no joy. and a very angry son,lol i even downloaded the korean firmware, lol, still says same error all the time, i have tried v.14 and v.11, and probaly some others, aaaaaaggggggrrrrrrrrrr, system not found, please put system file in. i will try all the other firmwares from r4ds and see how it goes, but any other help would be appriated. and has any one else had this message come up on there ds.??? as i cant find it anywhere on a thread. it also says (language english) if that helps
Don't bother trying foreign language version of the same kernel if the English version doesn't work. IMHO You're wasting your time and I don't believe that it will solve your problem. I suggest you start considering sending it back as defective and ask for a refund. Then you can go out and buy a GOOD flashcart.
hi, yeah i was gonna send back for refund, but it is gonna cost me another 9 £ in postage charges and they take a handleing fee of £2.99 and the game only cost me 20.00 so not really worth the hassle me is thinking, oh well i will just have to buy another one somewhere else and hope for the best. i brought this one from aria.co.uk.
Would reccomend an M3 real - Avoid anything with R4 in the name and anything that looks too cheap - U2 Mars etc. Sent you a PM with details.
Hi there, I have come on here for exactly the same reason as you!!! Bought my 8 year old son the r4 card but I get exactly the same system file message. I have reloaded and loaded several times now and Im exasperated!! I too bought this from Aria - wonder if that has anything to do with it???? Have you managed to sort it?? Ive got till morning to fix this.
hi, sorry to hear that u have been sold a duff one as well. i have tried everything now, and nothing works. it just looks like they had a broke bunch to send out. i did write to the sales team at aria as well and they just got back to me, saying that i didnt need a disc as already as is a plug and play. when i clearly stated on the email to them that i didnt need the disc anyway as i have got al the files that are needed from r4ds site. and they also gave me a link to that site but it was the wrong address anyway and come up broken link. i dont think they have a clue what they doing, and i replied with this as well. hope u have better luck that me, please let me know if u do get this sorted. thanks hayley x
Hi Hayley, will do. Its just soooo frustrating isnt it. Dont know what to do, whether to send it back to them or just, like you buy a different one.
I have also brought an R4 card from Aria and had the same problem. By trial and error I have found that the M3G6 DS Real V4.2e firmware works on this card.
hi sorry to be a pain, but dont suppose anyone knows the site to get this firmware i have tried the search engine and just bringing up spanish mainly sites and i cant understand where to download. thanks x
wow, it worked, thankyou so much tannera. my kids are gonna be so pleased with u. and hope this works for u enyaj. (let me know if it didnt) heres what i did, i downloaded all the files from the r4ds website, v.18 version was the latest. then i unzipped them, and dragged them all apart from the system file you get with it,into my memory card, then i went to http://www.handheldsources.com/M3DS/Download_M3DSR.html and downloaded the file that tannera mentioned, m3g6 real v4.e and unzipped that as well and dragged that into my memory card. thats it i put the memory card back in the r4 card and BOOM it works. very happy now and just want to say thankyou to all who have replied and helped. x
