I have purchased an White R4 for my nintendo ds. After I installed all the software on there, and games it was working perfectly. I downloaded some more games, and put them on the R4, and now it doesn't work. A red icon which looks like a memory card comes up with "menu ?" on it. What is this? So I have formatted the R4 now, but I can't find the software, and I don't know what software I need. Please can somebody tell me what to do as I am getting really frustrated now. Thank You for your time, Luke.
When you put on the games, always leave space for the card to make the save files (I usually leave 1MB per game) If the card is too full it can corrupt the firmware
It is still not working after I install the firmware! The red icon still comes up :S What should I have altogether? So far I have: moonshl folder _system_ folder _DS_MENU DAT File. _DS_MSHL.NDS File. _R4_III File. Please help
Are you sure you have the right firmware, there are 14 to choose from all called R4 and some are exactly the same name. usually the R4 not working is down to the incorrect firware on the card.
HI LADS IS THERE FIRMWERE FOR THE DSi,DOES THE R4 OR DSTT CARD WORK WITH THE NEW DSi,i cant get it to work. THANKS PADDY.
Hi Kitymat, My kid has a DS with an original R4. He is saving up to upgrade to a DSi (against my advice but it's his money) and it sems the existing R4 isn't going to work on the DSi. Is the new R4i the way to go? Are there any other options which work better/easier? Is www.r4ultra.com the place to get them? Would appreciate any advice and links (PM's if necessary) to the best product and best supplier for the DSi. Regards, Ben
Well R4 is not really the way to go - there are already 3 R4i cards on the market (and soon there will be more) They have nothing to do with the original R4, they are just marketed as an R4 to lure unsuspecting people in. I can only go on the threads that I have read here and in other forums AceKard 2i - works and has upgradeable firmware and Kernal software. EZ Flash Vi - as above DSTTi - only upgradeable firmware, this card has a disclaimer with it that it may be made unuseable by a DSi firmware upgrade. I personally would go with either of the top 2 both are known to be working even with the latest DSi firmware, but just remember, the cards will only play DS games, they will not play GBA games or DSi Ware. Whether they ever will is a mystery. It is too early yet to know but will probably require a firmware hack on the DSi (bit like the PSP)
KittyMat, One more question. I've been researching both the AceKard 2i and the EZ Flash Vi. It seems the AceKard 2i has no Real Time Saving, but does have a spring slot and a fast menu. the EZ Flash Vi does have Real Time Saving but no-spring loaded slot and a slower menu than the AceKard 2i. I was going to go for the AceKard 2i for the faster menu until I came across another card called the iTouch2 see http://www.4coolday.com/itouch2-enhanced-with-real-time-save-for-ds-dslite-and-dsi-p-71.html Do you know much about this cart? It claims to have Real Time Saving but that's all I can find out. If it had a spring loaded slot and a fast menu it would be the perfect solution. Any thoughts? I also read that there is an M3 Real i card coming out by the same people who make the iTouch2. Why would they produce two cards? Which one is better and what are the functinal differences between the two cards? Yours sincerely, confused.com!!!
