I got my R4 version 2 and sandisk 2gb micro sd yesterday. I downloaded the latest firmware and followed step by step guide that you find on youtube. This told me to copy the four dowloaded files inside the "English" folder onto my micro SD. I then copied some roms onto the micro SD in a folder i made called "Games". i then placed the card into my R4 an d turned on. All i got was a loading screen. Since then i have tried downloading the older versions of the firmware and searched high and low for a solution. does anybody have any ideas???

    any help would be grand!!!

Maybe have a look at the step by step guide below and start fresh , maybe call the games folder NDS GAMES ( in CAPS ) also make sure the games have .nds extension

i have tried various differnt folder names and the files are nds but i still just get the loading screen, so i think it may be the connector. i will try that and then let u know if it was a success. thanks a bunch chaps!! will post soon

i have looked at the idea of the piece of paper but it sayd that is to solve the problem if you dont get past the "touch the screen" menu. i get to the oading screen and it just says that forever. i cant hack seeing that screen for much longer. lol. I dont think it is the "spring" problem as it is a version 2 and they took this away. i am really running out of ideas. could it be the sandisk sd card. It is a 2gb and seems ok but like i said i get nothing. i have aslo made sure i have formatted the sandisk before i used it.

Can any body shed any light on this????? really stuck now.

Have you tried different language firmware, try that if it doesnt work you might have a fake R4 that's not working with the real r4's kernel.

ok. its def not the paper trick that causing the problem so the last thing i will try is the firmware. How do i go about getting the different language firmware??? also if this does not work does anybody know a reliable place i can get a cheap real R4. Pref a V1. Any links would be great and thanks for all the help so far. much appreciated.

Just an idea ... Did you use W1nZip or W1nRar to extract the R4 files before putting them on the Micro SD card ?

If so , try putting the .nds game files straight to the micro card instead of the games folder ?

    7zip is free form here - http://www.7-zip.org/

also where did you buy your r4ds from just to make sure it is a genuine r4ds ?

a genuine r4ds only needs the 2 files and 2 folders on the memory card to run !

    link for the r4ds v1.18 english firmware - http://www.r4ds.com/soft/24-en.htm

    files - _DS_MENU + _DS_MSHL.NDS

    folders - moonshl + _system_

    woof811.

ps. if you bought it from a dodgy site you could have been sold a n5ds instead of a geniune r4ds.
