I have a HP Pavilion with 2.93GHz P4 Processor and 512MB current ram. I ran CPU-Z but it didnt tell what density my PC needs and it said that i have PC3200(200MHz), DDR-SDR, Ram. now i need to to know is it ddr or sdr, or can i just say its pc3200?. And furthermore i need to know what the limit of RAM is for my PC. + I live in UK and if any of you know any gd UUK sites 4 ram plz let me know. i hope you guys can help. TY

to save starting a new topic. on nearly the same sunject. ill just post here

    i have an emachines 540
    with 256mb sdram
    1.3ghz intel celeron processor
    40gb hard drive

right, the problem i have is that i can't afford to buy a new comp so i want to upgrade this to highest specs i can.

its socket 370 my processor is there a higher one???
    about 2ghz

i cant seem to find my maximum specs anywhere on the net - i googled and tried the emachines website.
just wondered if anyone knew anything about it. or a site that has computer specs on. or a program - im sure ive seen one about.

    thanks for all the help

endz, what is the model# off your hp so can get you a link.

RavenLife, that is as high a cpu can get as the p4 starts at 1.3 or 1.4ghz but totally different socket, i think 423 but not certain.

Hey ddp sorry 4 the late post. but i cant seem to find the model of my HP, woudl you know where is it located? i thnk, i repeat i think its f760 cos thats wat it says on the front, So overall it could be a Hp pavilion f760 is theres a such thing. Could you give e the link to where the best site is to find out how much Ram i can support, what density, frequancy , And anything else i need to know. But if i went out and bought any DDR Ram would it work on my PC?

All i have to do is find out how much the mobo can support overall and in each slot. O and yes i hav tryed CPU-Z.

If you have a specific link to a guide or thread on another forum then feel free to link to it but blatant pimping another site in our forums is just downright rude so let's remove the link from your sig and cool it with the general links ;)

    Four 184-pin DDR DIMM sockets

    Supports PC3200 (400 MHz) /PC2700 (333 MHz) / PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR DIMM type

Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory module is 1 GB

Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory is 4 GB

O thanks, all supports you gave, they work in any slot yes?
And does higher frequancy like PC3200 mean higher performance?

    P.S you said-

"Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory module is 1 GB

Maximum HP/Compaq approved memory is 4 GB"

Does that mean max in 1 slot is 1GB and overall total in all slots 4GB yes??

    Thanks
