hello, i have a question, whats the quickest encoder to use (CCE or MainConcept, etc)to put a whole season of US drama 'X' onto dvd - its currently in .avi format and there's about 13 episodes. Also, bearing in mind, im going to have to convert it into PAL format, as my dvd player isnt region free. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Well if your AVI files are NTSC and you are encodeing to Pal then you shouldn"t be worried about what encoder is the Fastest or easiest but what encoder can actually Properly encode NTSC to Pal as Mostr encoders SUCK at doing NTSC/Pal Conversions and will generally result in Choppy Playback..... There is only one encoder I will use for Doing NTSC/Pal Conversions and it is Not Known as a Fast encoder but it is the Only one that does Good NTSC/Pal conversions and that is "Canopus Procoder".... If you Knew How to use "AVISynth" you could use it to Do the NTSC to Pal Conversion and then frameserve the File to a Fast encoder of Which the Fastest and Best Quality one is probably "CinemaCraft Encoder SP 2.70" but it is Difficult to use and so is AVISynth so you Might be better off useing Canopus procoder if you can get ahold of it..... Well, thanks minion... I normally use TMPGEnc to encode my .avi files to mpeg-2 in a PAL format. My question to you is; if i were to use that encoder would the quality come out as good as the quality the video display is currently in (in the original .avi format). Thanks...
Well anytime You encode a video file to another Format you loose some Quality and depending on the Quality of the encoder and the Quality of your Source file will determine how much quality is Lost... Tmpgenc is a Good Quality encoder and it has a lot of Options But it is Pretty Slow but also is Canopus Procoder but the MainConcept encoder is really Fast and will produce Just as Good Quality but it doesn"t do Good NTSC/Pal conversions Like Procoder can so if you don"t have to Convert pal to NTSC then it would be a Good Fast encoder to use...
