Hello, You can go to EasyBuy2000.com. They have an assortment of Chips. Make sure you know what you are buying as some of them need to be soldered in place. I have a Matrix and it did not need to be soldered, however the Matrix chips do move occasionally if your XBox gets moved a lot. This just means you need to go back in and readjust your alignment. Yeah it's better to get a solder mod. The Xecuter 2.1 is probably the best mod at the moment but all mods even the cheapmod will allow you to play backups. The Xecuter just has extra features like a disable switch and no patch hack but it's only bells and whistles nothing essential to playing backups.
Xecuter Lite is pretty sweet, and just about idiot proof (well I managed to fit one anyway). The only suggestion I would make, is that the position of the pin header (if that’s what you can use) means you don’t have to skimp on the solder, the more the merrier and all that. It’s the only mistake I made when I put mine in, tried to be all tidy when it was quantity not quality required.
